What should I check first when choosing shared housing in Edinburgh?
Start with commute time, what is included in rent, move-in conditions, and house rules. In Edinburgh, daily travel and living costs can vary by area, so compare the total fit rather than rent alone.
How early should I look for shared housing in Edinburgh?
A good rule of thumb is to start checking options one to two months before your preferred move-in date. Popular areas and busy seasons move quickly, so contact the property once the key conditions look right.
Can first-time international students live in shared housing in Edinburgh?
Yes. If this is your first time abroad, choose a place with clear house rules, clear contact details, a realistic commute, and enough information about the neighborhood and shared spaces.
What costs besides rent should I check in Edinburgh?
Check deposits, utilities, Wi-Fi, laundry, cleaning fees, and move-out costs. A low monthly rent can become less attractive if many costs are separate, so compare the monthly total.
