If age is on your mind, start with how each school states it on its official pages. Building on our guide to studying English in the Philippines, we set out nine schools’ wording as written, and check single rooms, outside lodging and courses with fewer lessons. Checked on 31 October 2026.
In short
Across the nine schools we compared, none of the pages we read states an upper age limit. The one course with an age cut-off is Active Senior at Baguio JIC, which says 40 and over. Single rooms and lesson numbers differ by school, so compare the price tables.
What schools’ official pages say about age
Some language schools in the Philippines state an age on their official pages, and some do not. The table sets out the wording from official FAQs and course pages as written. Entries marked as Japanese pages are our translation.

How to read a page that says nothing about age
We found no page among these nine that states an upper age as a condition of enrolment. Smeag’s “around 60” describes the students it has, not a limit on admission.
A school that says nothing about age has simply not written it down. That does not mean there is no limit, so ask before you apply.
In BLOOM ABROAD’s listing data (67 published schools), 36 schools have a minimum age recorded and 31 are blank. A recorded value can be the age of the school’s youngest-age course. Baguio JIC, for example, is recorded at 15, while its Active Senior course says 40 and above. The data has no field for an upper age.
Single rooms and dorm fees
These are dorm fees for schools with single rooms, taken from official price tables. Prices are per four weeks and do not include tuition.
Baguio JIC says its dorm fees include meals. MONOL’s dorm table does not mention meals, and its FAQ says most students on the Main Campus order food at the on-campus café.
Single rooms at B&D English School
B&D English School prices tuition and room together. For General ESL in a single room, four weeks cost USD 1,125 on Light (four lessons a day), USD 1,375 on Standard (six) and USD 1,625 on Sparta (eight).
Its Senior Light Course in a single room costs USD 490 for one week, USD 1,490 for four weeks and USD 3,910 for twelve weeks. A double room for couples is USD 2,880 for four weeks.

Dorm or outside lodging
Of the schools we checked, B&D English School was the one that builds outside lodging into its price list.
B&D’s Hotel Light Course has you stay in a hotel or condominium in Dumaguete City or Sibulan and use a shuttle to and from school. Lessons are three hours a day. On a morning slot you leave the hotel at 8:20 and the school at 12:00, and on an afternoon slot you leave the hotel at 12:30 and the school at 16:00.
Four weeks cost USD 1,050, and you book the lodging yourself. Lunch at school can be added with advance booking.
At the other schools, the school arranges the dorm or lodging. MONOL’s dorm rooms are inside the school building, and MeRISE Study Abroad’s lodging is about a four-minute walk from the school.
B&D’s Senior Light Course also offers an optional “In-Room Meal Service”, with meals left on a table outside your room or at your door.
Courses where you choose the number of lessons
Courses with fewer one-to-one lessons a day go by different names at each school. These are the numbers on the official pages.
Adding or rescheduling lessons
MONOL’s FAQ says its senior program usually has about three one-to-one classes a day and that you can add more. An extra one-to-one class on ESL costs USD 150 for four weeks.
B&D’s Senior Light Course lets you reschedule a lesson you miss because of health or sightseeing. The official example adds one hour on each of Tuesday to Thursday to make up Monday.

What BI says about age
In the Bureau of Immigration (BI) FAQs, a Special Study Permit (SSP) is described as issued to a foreign national below the age of 18 and/or taking non-degree courses. A student visa is described as issued to foreign students aged 18 and above taking a course higher than high school.
That page states no upper age condition. We could not confirm on BI’s pages whether SSP or visa extension fees and numbers change with age, so this article does not cover that. For how to get an SSP, see SSP and ACR I-Card.
What to check before you apply
When you contact a school, ask these four things.
- Whether the course states an age range, including any upper age
- The room types (single, couple) with prices and whether meals are included
- The number of daily one-to-one lessons and whether you can add more later
- Whether the application asks for a health declaration or a medical certificate
Health paperwork
We found no wording matching the fourth item on the official pages we opened. For health and insurance, ask when you contact the school.
