Where can I check a school's accreditation?
Languages Canada requires its member schools to be accredited under a single, internationally recognized accreditation system. Public post-secondary institutions in BC are authorized under provincial law. Private training institutions are subject to regulation under the Private Training Act, and many private schools, including language schools, fall under it.
The designation of institutions that accept international students is also changing. According to the BC government's guidance, the system based on the EQA policy is to be replaced by one based on new legislation. Whether a private school is accredited is checked on the PTIB page.
Where can I check the cost?
In ABROAD's list of Vancouver schools, the tuition column is mostly empty. Tuition is checked on each school's official page.
- Languages Canada members are only programs that meet its standards, whether public or private
- The organization states that it is recognized by the Canadian government and internationally
- The list of accredited private training institutions is on the PTIB page
