Published in the Federal Register on 1 October 2026. The new fee applies from 16 October 2026 (15 days after publication, according to the notice).

Exceptions

If you are going to the US with a visa, for example to study or as an exchange visitor (F-1 or J-1), you apply for a visa instead of ESTA, so this fee does not directly apply to you.

According to the notice, the law (H.R. 1) requires this fee to be adjusted for inflation every year. The notice does not say whether you need to apply again if you already have a valid ESTA.

Always apply for ESTA through the official US government website.

Ce qu'il faut vérifier ou faire

  1. Before you apply for ESTA, check the current fee on CBP's official ESTA website.
  2. Check when your ESTA expires, too.
  3. If you are travelling to study or work, you need a visa, not ESTA. Check the official pages for the right procedure for your purpose.
