F-⁠1 visa (English programs included)

The F-⁠1 visa is for students enrolling in academic programs at a university, college, high school or other academic institution, including an English language program. After you receive your Form I-⁠20, you pay the I-⁠901 SEVIS f⁠e⁠e⁠.

On-⁠campus work: up to 20 hours a week

If you work on campus, you may not work more than 20 hours a week when school is in sessi⁠o⁠n⁠.

An F-⁠1 visa and a Form I-⁠20 are needed

You enrol in an academic program at a university or college on an F-⁠1 visa. Besides the Form I-⁠20 from your school and payment of the I-⁠901 SEVIS fee, you need evidence of financial support such as family bank statements, sponsor documents, financial aid letters or scholarship lette⁠r⁠s⁠.

Up to 90 days per visit

For tourism or business you can enter on an ESTA under the Visa Waiver Program and stay up to 90 days per vis⁠i⁠t⁠.
