TransMed offers specialized medical-English training run by a Vancouver medical interpretation company founded in 2005. Its three-week introductory medical interpreting program keeps classes to just two to four students, while a 12-week medical English communication program serves intermediate to advanced learners. Instruction comes from a Japanese medical interpreter certified by STIBC, BC's society of translators and interpreters. Options include hands-on experience at partner clinics, and the company also runs a 24-hour, cashless medical interpretation assistance service—grounding the courses in real practice. It suits those serious about medical English or interpreting careers.
